چکیده

The multiaxial character of high-speed railway brake disc thermomechanical fatigue damage is studied in this work. Although the amplitudes and distributions temperature, strain stress are similar with uniform rotating loading methods, behavior out-of-phase failure status can only be revealed by latter one. With help a model, evaluation life prediction implemented, contribution uniaxial parameter, parameter to total discussed, it found that using amplitude distribution for will lead an underestimation damage. results indicate belongs type fatigue. Using causes around 14% damage, while employing without consideration about 5%. This work explains importance studying from perspective

Multiaxial Fatigue Analysis in a High-speed Microgenerator Rotor Shaft

Fatigue evaluation is one of the most concerning issue in the design of mechanical parts subject to alternative forces. Fatigue life estimation is more complicated when loads act on different axes. This paper shows the stress analysis result of the steel shaft of a high-speed microgenerator rotor with 47750 rpm and 100kW which has been carried out with analytical stress formulation. The shaft i...

Simulation of fully coupled thermomechanical analysis of disc brake rotor

Vehicle braking system is considered as one of the most fundamental safety-critical systems in modern vehicles as its main purpose is to stop or decelerate the vehicle. The frictional heat generated during braking application can cause numerous negative effects on the brake assembly such as brake fade, premature wear, thermal cracks and disc thickness variation (DTV). In the past, surface rough...

Investigation of the Coatings Applied onto Brake Discs on Disc-brake Pad Pair

In severe conditions, braking may cause the temperature on the disc-pad interface to rise up to 800 °C 1 . At such a temperature, the properties of organic compounds are disrupted, coefficient of friction (CoF) decreases, and the rate of wear increases exponentially. This phenomenon is called “fade” 2 . Ideal brake pads, without causing any fades, are expected to function in uniform and stable ...

Thermomechanical Simulation of Wear and Hot Bands in a Disc Brake by Adopting an Eulerian Approach

Abstract: In this paper frictional heating of a disc brake is simulated while taking wear into account. By performing thermomechanical finite element analysis, it is studied how the wear history will influence the development of hot bands. The frictional heat analysis is based on an Eulerian formulation of the disc, which requires significantly lower computational time as compared to a standard...
